“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” – Isaiah 60:1

Nearly every night before I go to sleep, I ask the Lord to wake me up in the spirit of Isaiah 60:1. When morning breaks, I want to “Arise, shine, for [my] light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon [me].” I know how easily my disability could darken my countenance, and so when my day starts, I ask God to make this beautiful verse a shining reality in my life!

I also chose Isaiah 60:1 as the theme for my 2018 Joni Planner. We live in a dark world filled with trouble and anxiety, but Jesus’ joy can chase away every gloomy shadow of fear. It’s the point behind every monthly devotional, activity, quotation, and Bible verse in my 2018 Planner. And I’m praying that as friends use my Planner, they, too, will rise and shine in the morning, moving into their day by the light of God’s Word. This bright theme even graces the cover – I chose my painting A Light in the Forest to capture iridescent sunlight falling through trees, transforming a dark forest into a cathedral of praise!

I hope in 2018 you will use the Joni Planner as a family journal to chronicle vacations, and keep track of appointments, prayer commitments, and holiday memories. Consider purchasing a Planner or two for your friends. Remember, all proceeds go directly toward the support of our Christ-centered programs at Joni and Friends. God bless you for shining His light… especially into the lives of the thousands of special-needs families you are reaching through your prayers and gifts!
